Mortal Kombat To Be Filmed In South Australia

A big announcement today from the government of South Australia! They have secured a deal with New Line Cinema to film the new Mortal Kombat action flick in South Australia.

James Wan (Aquaman) will lead the production, with Simon McQuoid making his directorial debut. There is a lot of action experience in the production team, with Larry Kasanoff (Mortal Kombat, True Lies), E. Bennett Walsh (The Amazing Spiderman 2), and others.

The project will be the largest film ever filmed in South Australia, with “…an estimated 580 jobs and 1,500 extras employed, along with some AUD $70 million injected into the South Australian economy”. Pre-production is commencing later this month, with the filming to be completed by the end of the year.

Time to start hitting the gym to snag one of those “extra’s” spots!
