The dates that matter May 5 – May 11

Another week, another what’s on. A beta, two massive game releases and a crazy busy Saturday. It’s a great time to be a gamer! Don’t forget you can see the full list of events here and if you think we need to add something, let us know.

May 5 – 9 – Overwatch open beta

The demo open beta for Blizzard’s next game is here. It’s not going to be for everyone but you’d be crazy not to try it out. My advice? Try as many characters as possible. When you find the perfect one for you, the game gets a lot better!

May 7 – Free Comic Book Day

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Head to your local comic book store and selected comics will be free! They generally have sales and other events at the same time. But most of all, free stuff!!

May 7 – International Tabletop Day

Held at the German Club in the Adelaide CBD (and other locations worldwide), $2 gets you gaming from 10:30am to 11:30pm. A huge array of games will be available to play (I highly recommend Mysterium). I can think of few better ways to spend a Saturday.

May 7 – SideQuest charity fundraiser

This is going to be a great event! Chiptunes, retro games, a Digital Hype console up for grabs, licenced venue, Mario Kart competition AND helping an incredible charity, the Starlight Foundation. From 7pm at the Crown & Anchor, the donation of a note (cash, note a permission slip from mum) will get you in the door. We’ll see you there!

May 10 – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (PS)

This is it. Nathan Drake’s last adventure. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan or not, this is one of the biggest game releases of the year.

May 13 – Doom (PS, XB, PC)

It’s back baby!! Doom returns to PC in all it’s gibbering glory. While we’re not psyched about the multiplayer, we’re salivating over the single player campaign. Come at me!
