200 Words – Ratchet and Clank review

No fluff, just the important stuff. Reviews in 200 words or less with a number at the end. What more do you need?

Ratchet and Clank is a game, based on a movie that’s based on a game. Which seems to me to be a convoluted way of saying “We’re rebooting this franchise”.

I’ll preface this by saying this is my first Ratchet and Clank game so I can’t compare it to the originals. Overall I found it to be a great game with good gameplay, a solid if predictable story and a decent amount of replayability. It’s very much a 3D platforming game and has all the core mechanics you would expect. And a sheep gun.

The weapons are a highlight of the game. From pixel guns to disco grenades, the weapons are varied, fun and in abundance. However one of my only issues with the game was the gun levelling system, forcing me to use all the guns simply to level them up rather than my favourite guns.

While not used for the review score it is worth mentioning the price. Ratchet and Clank is $45-$55 new in store. If you are on a tight budget this is an excellent price for a new release, triple a game and is worth consideration.

Fun platforming shooter

Buy this game if you love story driven action gameplay with a decent amount of replayability but not a huge amount of freedom to do your own thing.
